Welcome to TCCW!

The Tennessee Center for Child Welfare (TCCW) at Middle Tennessee State University is funded by a grant from the Tennessee Department of Children's Services (DCS). Our vision is to make a measurable difference in child welfare practices, management, and outcomes. Our mission is to partner with key stakeholders to provide quality social work education, training, professional development, and organizational support to the child welfare system and the social welfare systems to which it is linked.

TCCW partners with DCS, the Brian A. Technical Assistance Committee, the Tennessee Social Work Education Consortium (TSWEC), and Middle Tennessee State University to improve the quality of child welfare practice in Tennessee -- both in the classroom and on the job – by providing the following services:

  • BSW Stipend Program and MSW Tuition Program
  • Pre-Service and In-Service training for DCS supervisory and frontline staff
  • On-the-job training/coaching for DCS staff
  • Pre-Service and In-Service training for DCS resource parents
  • Child Welfare training for DCS partner agencies and community organizations
  • Research, evaluation, and data analysis services
  • Technical assistance and organizational support
